Samuel is a Psychotherapist who created Turning Point after returning home to Newfoundland. He is a trauma specialist and has a long history of working in the youth care and disability sectors. He has enjoyed the privilege of working with diverse peoples across Canada from the Atlantic to the prairies and the Territories. In all his time he has found nothing so remarkable as people's ability to overcome the trauma and wounds of life and living.
Samuel practices from a place of warmth and respect. Before any counselling can begin, he believes clients must feel safe and comfortable. He is experienced with all contemporary approaches, but favors a blend of exploring deep meaning-making, and concrete actions and exercises. Samuel believes it's fundamentally critical for therapists to understand where people are coming from and why things are meaningful. He will not simply give you some breathing exercises and call it a day.
When at home, Samuel enjoys the company of his two dogs, Reggie and Obi , and being mindful, thankful, and present. Samuel loves board games and all things nerdy.
Erin holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree and is a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Social Workers. She has experience in case management, disability services, career counselling, and advocacy. She is passionate about creating safe, non-judgmental spaces for clients and strives to create a client-centered environment to build on empathy, openness, and the absence of judgement. In her spare time, you will find her snuggling with her cat or catching up on a good book.
